It was extremely cold in the morning. I woke up quite early due to the coldness. Well, actually I was supposed to wake up at 2a.m to see whether my camera battery has finished charging, However, I am a heavy sleeper. Janet, who was to wake me up at 2 a.m. to do the checking, did not managed to wake me up successfully. Because I went straight back to sleep after she woke me up at 2a.m. telling me that my camera light was still red. lol. After Janet and Gin Jin was ready, we went down to the breakfast area to have our breakfast. I had a croissant and a baguette. I was super full after drinking a cup of orange juices and a cup of cappuccino. Along with the rest of our GSS mates, we set off to Musée du Louvre!!! Another French student of UTT, named Aline, joined us for the tour of the day.

History of Louvre:
The Louvre, in its successive architectural metamorphoses, has dominated central Paris since the late 12th century. Built on the city's western edge, the original structure was gradually engulfed as the city grew. The dark fortress of the early days was transformed into the modernized dwelling of François I and, later, the sumptuous palace of the Sun King, Louis XIV.

Do we still remember the pyramid of Louvre and the painting of Mona Lisa's painting seen in the movie of Da Vinci Code? Yes, of course. lol. That's the place! The museum was huge though, there are a lot of rare and interesting painting and sculptures. I saw the painting of Mona Lisa! There were quite a few artists in the museum who did on the spot drawing. It's cool, isn't it? ^^ Janet, Gin Jin and I walked and took pictures on and off, it was tiring but enjoyable. hee.=) However, as time passed, it became rather boring because all around us were all paintings and sculptures. We had chocolate bread for our lunch outside the Musée du Louvre. =( We sat near the Fountain, the scenery was nice! There were even ducks swimming and hopping from fountain to fountain.

After the Musée du Louvre, our next stop was Arc de Triomphe.

The Arc de Triomphe is an iconic Triumphal arch in Paris, France that stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle, also known as the Place de l'Étoile (Star Square). It is at the western end of the Champs-Élysées. The arch honours those who fought for France, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars. On the inside and the top of the arc there are all of the names of generals and wars fought. Underneath is the tomb of the unknown soldier from World War I.

History of Arc de Triomphe:
The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous monuments in Paris. It was commissioned in 1806 after the victory at Austerlitz by Emperor Napoleon at the peak of his fortunes. Laying the foundations alone took two years, and in 1810 when Napoleon entered Paris from the west with his bride Archduchess Marie-Louise of Austria, he had a wooden mock-up of the completed arch constructed. The architect Jean Chalgrin died in 1811, and the work was taken over by Huyon. During the Restoration, construction was halted and would not be completed until the reign of King Louis-Philippe, in 1833–36 when the architects on site were Goust, then Huyot, under the direction of Héricart de Thury. Napoleon's body passed under it on 15 December 1840 on its way to its second and final resting place at Les Invalides.

That day was a bad weather, there was slight drizzle on and off that made us felt extremely cold! We did not get to go up to the top of Arc de Triomphe. It's quite a pity, anyway it's raining. =( We then proceeded on to the Must Go sightseeing Place in Paris that was Tour Eiffel, Paris.!!!

The Eiffel Tower (French: Tour Eiffel, /tuʀ ɛfɛl/) is an iron tower built on the Champ de Mars beside the Seine River in Paris. It was named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel. It is now the fifth-tallest structure in France and the tallest building in Paris. Also, it is one of the most recognised structures in the world. Including the 24m (79 ft) antenna, the structure is 325m (1,063 ft) high (since 2000), which is equivalent to about 81 levels in a conventional building.

We got to go up the Eiffel Tower to its 2nd and 3rd storey. Despite of the rain, the view down from the top of the Eiffel Tower was super nice! The whole of Paris was really under my sight!!! It was another great place for proposing of marriage. A few of my GSS mate really witnessed a man proposing to his girlfriend at the 3rd storey of the Eiffel Tower. It's romantic, isn't it. It was right to name Paris as the City of Love! lol. Also, we bought souvenirs!=)

After that, we went to Place de la Concorde via metro and by foot. It is the largest place in Paris, is situated along the Seine and separates the Tuilerie Gardens from the beginning of the Champs Elysées. It is in the 8th arrondissement, or district, of the city.

History of Place de la Concorde:
Jacques Ange Gabriel, Louis XV's architect, began construction in 1754 and completed it in 1763. It was thus called the Place Louis XV. The place was constructed to hold an equestrian statue of Louis XV that the city of Paris commissioned in 1748 from Bouchardon to offer to the king. With respect to urban accomplishments, it is the greatest achievement of the Enlightenment in the capital.

It became the Place de la Révolution and held in its center the guillotine that executed in particular Louis XVI, Marie-Antoinette, Danton, Robespierre, and 2800 others between 1793 and 1795. It is said that the smell of blood was so strong that a herd of cattle refused to cross the place. After the Revolution it suffered a series of transformations et several changes of name: place de la Concorde, place Louis XV again, place Louis XVI, place de la Chartre, and once again place de la Concorde to symbolize the end of a troubled era and the hope of a better future.

Place de la Concorde today has maintained the general appearance that it had in the eighteenth century. The statue of Louis XV, removed during the Revolution, was replaced by the Obelisk of Luxor given by the viceroy of Egypt, Mohamed Ali, to Louis Phillipe. The obelisk, 22.83 meters high and weighing 230 tons

Well, the place is huge. Even the road towards one direction has 5 lanes! It was a nice place!

After walking for so long, we did not realised that it was already going to 7.30p.m. We bid goodbye to Aline who left us as we were getting back to our hotel. Janet, Gin Jin and I were feeling super hungry and cold! Argh! We reached our hotel at 8.30p.m. Along with the rest, we went to a restaurant near our hotel to have our dinner. I had a chicken leg set that cost €13.50 and one of 6 escargot that costs €1.50. It was another expensive meal! The meat of the chicken leg was super tender. haha. During our dinner, we watched the "singing contest" that was conducted once a year in Europe. It has all the EU countries sending a participant representing their respective countries in the contest. It has a totally different voting system from Singapore. Singapore voting system for such contest was to earn money. But for them, they only have 15 minutes for voting. It was already 10plus in the night after we finished our dinner. We then went back quickly, so that we can watch the result of the contest back in our room. In the end, Russia (the skater and the volinist) won. It was a close one. Because the Greece team was comparable too. After that, we went to sleep. Zzzzzzz.
